When a baby is born, things go wild and there are so many things to take care of that you may miss others. And you won’t have the time anymore to spend on judging one thing or another at that moment. That is why I think you should consider now a few things.
For example, before actually buying a stroller, ask yourself if you are aware of how many types of baby strollers are out there. This is an important information and you should know it. Let’s see:
Lightweight strollers
Lightweight strollers are now so far away from where they’ve started. The original lightweight stroller was the umbrella stroller, who gave enough features to moms and with less weight. Weighting under 20 pounds, they have many of the features that large strollers have, such as reclining seats, storage baskets and sun shades. Lightweight strollers are great for traveling or short trips to shopping. You will carry them around very easy and without making too much of an effort.
Standard strollers
Standard strollers are larger and usually offer larger seats for your baby, larger wheels, more storage space and extras like built-in music systems and ergonomic handles. They are very versatile and work well under most conditions so most of the time parents go for this solution because offers them almost everything they need. However, they are not that easy to carry like lightweight strollers are.
When you travel, you can fold them, usually they have a nice one-hand fold system, just that they take more space in the trunk and are more heavy when lifted and why not say it, they are more difficult to handle in crowded places, like the shopping center, for example.
Jogging strollers
Well, now we enter an other category. Jogging strollers are those little toys mothers buy not for their babies but for them. Yes, jogging strollers are for mothers, don’t you dare to laugh!
A jogging stroller is all about large, sturdy tires, sleek frames, hand-grip brakes and all-terrain suspension systems and work well on all terrains. They are the 4×4 of strollers and this is what a mother who likes running needs.
Also don’t consider a jogging stroller as your only solution, since it won’t fold as flat as a standard stroller or a lightweight one. And most of all, jogging strollers are not for babies under 6 months! This is because of the position that the baby has when jogging. After 6 months, when the baby is able to maintain his balance and weight, he will be able to sit other than on his back, but until that moment, use a regular, standard stroller instead!
Travel systems
Of course, what does the name tells us? Travel systems are for those of you traveling a lot! Beside the standard stroller, it includes an infant car seat that can be easily installed in your car. Most travel systems come with a car seat base that stays in the car so that parents just snap the infant seat into the base rather than buckling/unbuckling the seat into the car. Once the infant seat is outgrown, travel systems perform the same as standard strollers.
Double strollers, triple strollers
Here the name says it all. Also named twin strollers, if you have twins, you just need one, there is no other choice. Double or triple strollers, when you need one, you just don’t have other choice!
